Da Nang Hot Springs 2026: Nui Than Tai and the Season That Suits It

A 70-degree spring rises in a forest valley 30 km west of Đà Nẵng, and almost nobody schedules it right. The 2026 prices, the 08:30-17:30 window, the drive from Hội An, and why October to April is the half of the year this place was built for.

Most of what people drive west of Đà Nẵng for is a view. This one is a temperature. Thirty kilometres out, where the plain ends and the Trường Sơn foothills start, a mineral spring surfaces at well over 70°C and is cooled into a valley of pools. It is the one attraction on our list that gets better as the year gets worse, which is why October is when to start talking about it.

Where is it, and why has the address changed?

Công viên suối khoáng nóng Núi Thần Tài occupies around 160 hectares at Phú Túc, tucked inside the Khu dự trữ thiên nhiên Bà Nà - Núi Chúa, a reserve of some 5,217 hectares straddling the old Đà Nẵng and Quảng Nam boundary. The spring is the whole reason the place exists: water rising from deep inside the Bà Nà massif, emerging at the point known locally as huyệt Long Hồ, between the hills of Thanh Long and Bạch Hổ.

The address on older booking forms is wrong for administrative rather than geographic reasons. This was xã Hòa Phú, huyện Hòa Vang. Under Nghị quyết 1659/NQ-UBTVQH15, dated 16 June 2025 and effective 1 July 2025, Hòa Phú and Hòa Phong were merged into one commune called xã Hòa Vang — 107.61 km² and about 28,000 people, with its people's committee sitting on Quốc lộ 14B itself. Đà Nẵng emerged with sixteen commune-level units. The park has not moved a metre; the paperwork around it has.

Why are the cool months its season?

Because a hot soak is a seasonal pleasure and central Vietnam's calendar is blunt about it. From roughly October to April the north-east monsoon drops Đà Nẵng's air temperature and closes the beach season — Cù Lao Chàm's boats have stopped, Mỹ Khê is a dawn-only proposition, the standard coastal day loses its best hours. That is the window in which 38 to 42°C bathing water turns from curiosity into plan.

Source water above 70°C is tempered down into bathing pools in the high thirties and low forties, in a valley already a few degrees cooler than the city. The composition local write-ups emphasise — bicarbonate, magnesium, calcium, sodium, sulphur — is why Vietnamese visitors treat the trip as restorative rather than recreational. Alongside the natural pools: a Japanese-style open-air onsen, mineral mud, hot and cold jacuzzis, salt-stone steam rooms and a water park.

One note on timing, because it decides whether you bring children: the park's big seasonal programmes run in the warm half of the year — the animal show was scheduled 25 April to 2 September 2026, the dinosaur attraction 5 June to 30 August 2026. Arrive in October and you get the water, the forest and the quiet, which is the better trade. The park's own Lễ hội Thần Tài, built around the tenth day of the first lunar month, fell on 26 February in 2026.

What does it cost in 2026?

Published 2026 rates, with dollar figures at roughly 26,000 VND to the dollar:

  • Basic day entry: 490,000 VND adult (about US$19), covering the temple, natural hot-spring bathing, the onsen, the mineral foot soak, jacuzzis, sauna, salt-stone steam rooms and the water park.
  • Children 1 m to under 1.4 m: half the adult rate, around 245,000 VND. Under 1 m: free.
  • Tích Lộc package: 755,000 VND adult, 378,000 VND child (about US$29 and US$14.50) — the basic ticket plus a buffet or set lunch.
  • Afternoon entry from 15:00: in the region of 390,000 VND adult.

Two lines are worth confirming at the gate rather than through a reseller: the child rate and the afternoon rate, where third-party sellers diverge most because both get promoted. The city tourism portal publishes the current schedule.

What time should you leave Hội An or Đà Nẵng?

Park activities run 08:30 to 17:30. Everything else follows from those nine hours.

From central Đà Nẵng it is about 30 km and 45 minutes: west on Cách mạng Tháng Tám onto Quốc lộ 14B, out across the Hòa Vang paddy plain, then the signposted side road north into Phú Túc. From Hội An allow 55 km and 1 hour 15 minutes, picking up the same corridor via Vĩnh Điện or the Đà Nẵng road, depending where in town you start.

Leave Hội An at 07:00 and you are at the gate close to opening, pools at their emptiest, valley still cool. From Đà Nẵng, 07:30 does the same job. Leaving after breakfast to arrive at 11:00 buys the hottest, busiest four hours and still ends in the same 17:30 sweep.

If the morning is lost to rain or a late flight, the afternoon ticket from 15:00 is a good second option in the cool months: two and a half hours of hot water as the light goes, at a lower price, the drive home in the dark being the only cost.

What happens at the gate, and where does the car wait?

This is the easy part, and a welcome change from Hội An. The car park at the entrance is large, and parking is included in the ticket rather than charged separately. Ticket and e-ticket counters and locker storage sit at the gate, and the park's electric buggies carry visitors from there up into the valley. Private vehicles do not use the internal roads.

So: your driver takes you to the gate, you go in on foot and by buggy, and the car waits. Agree a pickup time at the gate before you go through — mobile coverage in a forest valley is not something to build a plan on. Before you pack: alcohol, raw food and cooking equipment are not permitted through the gate.

What does October rain actually do to this day?

Ordinary rain is irrelevant to a hot pool — soaking in 40°C water while it drizzles on your shoulders is one of the wet season's underrated hours. The variable is not the park but the ground between you and it.

The current window makes the point. National forecasters put 150 to 250 mm on the belt from Hà Tĩnh to Đà Nẵng between the night of 5 October and the end of 8 October 2026, some areas above 400 mm, parts of the region reported as potentially exceeding 600 mm, bursts over 100 mm in three hours, and the spell likely running to 10 or 11 October. The warnings name the western uplands specifically: flash flooding on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes. In mid and late September 2026 that risk was already concrete — roughly 250 mm in a day, cracks opening on hillsides, 40 households moved at Hùng Sơn, and recorded slips on routes including ĐT601 and on the concrete lanes around Hòa Phú.

None of that puts the valley off the table for autumn. It means the day is decided the morning of, not three weeks out, and the honest version in October and November comes with two conditions: a forecast checked the night before, and a flexible slot rather than your only free day. Quốc lộ 14B is a solid main road; the last stretch into the hills is the part that gets judged.

One pairing to rule out. Quốc lộ 14G, the road to Cổng Trời Đông Giang, branches off this same corridor, and the proximity tempts people. They are separate days on separate mountains — attempting both produces two rushed visits and a lot of hill driving after dark.

Is the overnight the better version?

From Đà Nẵng, a day trip is comfortable. From Hội An in the wet months, the overnight is the stronger plan for one specific reason: the on-site Ebisu Onsen Resort keeps hotel hours while the park keeps gate hours, with mineral water plumbed to the rooms. Staying removes the part of an October day a driver would rather not have — a mountain side road at dusk, in rain, after six hours in hot water. You get the pools before the 08:30 crowd and the drive home in daylight.

If you want this one driven properly — the early start, the gate car park, the forecast read the night before and the day moved if it needs moving — describe the trip at hoiandriver.com/quote. A real driver prices it, 10% books it, the balance settled at trip end.

good questions

Where are the Da Nang hot springs?
Công viên suối khoáng nóng Núi Thần Tài sits in Phú Túc, about 30 km west of central Đà Nẵng inside the Bà Nà - Núi Chúa nature reserve. It was xã Hòa Phú, huyện Hòa Vang; since 1 July 2025 Hòa Phú and Hòa Phong have been merged into a single xã Hòa Vang within Đà Nẵng city, so that is the address current notices use.
How much is Nui Than Tai in 2026?
Adult entry is 490,000 VND, roughly US$19 at about 26,000 VND to the dollar. Children between 1 m and 1.4 m pay half the adult rate, around 245,000 VND, and children under 1 m are free. The Tích Lộc package, which adds a buffet lunch, is 755,000 VND adult and 378,000 VND child. An afternoon ticket valid from 15:00 runs in the region of 390,000 VND.
What are the opening hours?
Park activities run 08:30 to 17:30 daily. The on-site hotel operates around the clock, which is a different thing entirely: the pools and slides keep gate hours even if your room does not.
How long is the drive from Hoi An or Da Nang?
From central Đà Nẵng, about 30 km and 45 minutes. From Hội An, about 55 km and 1 hour 15 minutes. Both run west on Quốc lộ 14B across the Hòa Vang paddy plain before the side road climbs into Phú Túc.
When is the best time of year for Nui Than Tai?
October through April. The north-east monsoon takes the edge off the heat, the sea season closes, and 40-degree water stops being an odd idea and starts being the point. July and August work for the water park but a hot soak in 36-degree air is a hard sell.
Does the hot spring close when it rains?
Ordinary rain is no obstacle to a hot pool, and a soak in drizzle is one of the better things the wet season offers. Sustained heavy rain is a road question rather than a park question, because the approach runs through mountain terrain under flash-flood and landslide watch in October and November. That call is made the morning of.
Where does the car park, and can it come in?
Your driver takes you to the gate, where the car park is large and included in the ticket. From there the park's own electric buggies run visitors up into the valley, and there are lockers at the entrance. Private cars do not drive the internal roads, so agree a pickup time at the gate before you go in.
Is it worth staying overnight?
From Hội An it is the version that works best in the wet months. The park closes at 17:30 but the rooms do not, so an overnight removes the one part of the day a driver would rather avoid in October: a mountain side road at dusk in the rain.
