Da Nang Creative Art Connect 2026: Ten Days, Two Riverfront Museums, and the 17:00 Drive

Đà Nẵng has never run a contemporary art event like this before. DACC 2026 — Kết nối Nghệ thuật Sáng tạo Đà Nẵng — opens at 17:00 on 30 October and runs to 8 November inside the two museums on the Hàn riverfront, under the theme Lịch sử của ngày mai. What is actually in it, what the gates cost, and the one thing nobody tells you about driving to Bạch Đằng at five in the afternoon.

There is a particular kind of fare we drive a lot in late October: Hội An to Đà Nẵng, mid-afternoon, because the rain has taken the beach and somebody wants a roof over the next three hours. For the next ten days that run has a far better ending than usual. From tomorrow afternoon, 30 October, the two museums on the Hàn riverfront stop being two quiet buildings and become the halves of something Đà Nẵng has never staged before.

What is Da Nang Creative Art Connect 2026?

DACC 2026 — in full, Kết nối Nghệ thuật Sáng tạo Đà Nẵng 2026 — runs 30 October to 8 November, and it is a first edition. Sở Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Đà Nẵng is running it with the city's cultural institutions, and the theme is Lịch sử của ngày mai, History of Tomorrow: the announcements are explicit that this is history treated as live material to be reworked, not only as inheritance to be guarded.

The programme as published counts more than twenty activities — exhibitions, contemporary dance, workshops, guided art tours and talks — with artists, curators, folk artisans and researchers from Đà Nẵng, from elsewhere in Việt Nam, and from around Southeast Asia. One later Báo Đà Nẵng count puts the figure above thirty, which is the normal shape of these things as side programmes get added. The opening is set for 17:00 on 30 October on the grounds of Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng.

What we would flag, from the seat of a car that passes both buildings most weeks: the interesting decision here is the pairing of venues, not the headcount.

Which two buildings is it in, and why does that matter?

Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng occupies the old French mayor's office, the tòa Đốc lý, at 42-44 Bạch Đằng — though the gate visitors are received at is round the corner at 31 Trần Phú, which is the single most common mistake made on this address. Three floors, nine themes, the city's own memory of itself.

Bảo tàng Điêu khắc Chăm sits about 1.2 km south, at the western foot of Cầu Rồng on 2 Tháng 9. Building begun in 1915, opened 1919, and it holds the sculpture that once stood inside the brick towers at Mỹ Sơn and Trà Kiệu — nine of its pieces ranked bảo vật quốc gia, national treasures.

So the event has put its contemporary work in the two places where this coast keeps its deepest past and its most recent past, 1.2 km apart. That is a curatorial argument made with a street map, and if you only have time for one venue, pick by which conversation interests you more.

How early should you leave Hội An?

About 30 km separates Hội An from either museum. Normal running is 40 to 55 minutes; budget the top of that range on a wet evening or a weekend.

For the 17:00 opening on 30 October, leave Hội An by 15:30. The reason is specific rather than cautious. That arrival lands you on the Hàn riverfront at the exact hour Đà Nẵng's own commute is crossing Cầu Rồng and Cầu Trần Thị Lý, and an opening-night crowd on Bạch Đằng takes away what little slack the riverfront road has. Fifteen minutes of margin bought at 15:30 costs nothing; the same fifteen minutes bought at 16:45 does not exist.

From the other directions: Đà Nẵng airport is 3 to 5 km, 10 to 15 minutes, which makes DACC the best arrival-day filler on this coast for a landing before 15:00 with a room that is not ready. A beach hotel on Võ Nguyên Giáp is 15 to 20 minutes — leave by 16:20. The Marble Mountains are 12 km and 20 to 25 minutes, which is why the classic wet-week day we drive is Ngũ Hành Sơn first, then the riverfront, then home.

Where can the car actually stop?

This is where event evenings differ from ordinary museum afternoons. Bạch Đằng is a working riverfront boulevard, and on a night with a ceremony on it there will be barriers, a stage footprint and traffic police deciding what the kerb is for.

  • For Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng, be dropped at the 31 Trần Phú gate, not on the river side. Trần Phú absorbs a stopping car far better than Bạch Đằng does, and it is the gate that admits you anyway.
  • For Bảo tàng Điêu khắc Chăm, the usable drop is on the 2 Tháng 9 / Trưng Nữ Vương side of the block rather than on the bridge approach itself, where stopping is a losing argument at any hour.
  • Walk between the two. Fifteen to twenty minutes of flat pavement with the river beside you, versus a car repositioning 1.2 km through event traffic. The walk wins, and it is pleasant. Your driver waits at the end you will finish at — agree which end that is before you get out, because a plan made at the kerb at 17:00 is a plan made badly.
  • Pickup after the opening is the hour that goes wrong. Name a corner off the riverfront, one block back, and go to it. Do not try to be collected from the front of a stage.

Does it work as a rain plan?

Better than almost anything else on offer this fortnight. Late October and November are the wet peak in Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng, and both museums are almost entirely under roof — the real exception is the opening ceremony and anything else staged in the Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng courtyard, which is open sky. A light shell covers that hour.

Allow 90 minutes for Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng at a walking pace and an hour for the Chăm museum, more if the labels interest you. Add the DACC programme on top and a half day disappears easily. Standing hours are 08:00 to 17:00 at Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng and roughly 07:00 to 17:00 at the Chăm museum; treat anything happening after five as event hours rather than museum hours, and ask at the gate.

What comes after 8 November?

DACC opens a dense run. 18 to 24 November brings Tuần Văn hóa - Đại đoàn kết dân tộc, with venues including Hội An and Mỹ Sơn. 23 November to 7 December is Hội An's heritage fortnight, built to span Ngày Di sản Văn hóa Việt Nam and the 4 December anniversary of the 1999 UNESCO inscription. 3 to 6 December is the first Lễ hội Đèn lồng quốc tế, across the Hội An, Hội An Đông and Hội An Tây wards. Then the new-year programme runs from December into January.

Ten days of contemporary art in two old buildings is a quieter thing than any of those. It is also, this week, the most interesting roof in Đà Nẵng.

good questions

What is DACC 2026 in Da Nang?
Kết nối Nghệ thuật Sáng tạo Đà Nẵng 2026, shortened to DACC, is the city's first contemporary art connection event, run by Sở Văn hóa, Thể thao và Du lịch Đà Nẵng. The theme is Lịch sử của ngày mai — History of Tomorrow — and the announcements describe more than twenty activities: exhibitions, contemporary dance, workshops, guided art tours and talks, with artists, curators, folk artisans and researchers from Đà Nẵng, elsewhere in Việt Nam and around Southeast Asia.
When and where does Da Nang Creative Art Connect 2026 take place?
From 30 October to 8 November 2026, across two venues: Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng at 42-44 Bạch Đằng, whose visitor gate is at 31 Trần Phú, and Bảo tàng Điêu khắc Chăm at the western foot of Cầu Rồng on 2 Tháng 9. The opening ceremony is set for 17:00 on 30 October on the Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng grounds.
How much does it cost to get into DACC 2026?
The announcements we have read do not publish a DACC ticket, so budget for the museums' standing admission: 50,000 VND at Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng and 60,000 VND at Bảo tàng Điêu khắc Chăm, roughly 1.90 and 2.30 USD. Residents of Đà Nẵng and students at universities, colleges and vocational schools pay 20,000 VND at either. Children under 16 and Vietnamese citizens aged 60 and over go free. Check the venue gate for any separate charge on a performance.
How far is it from Hoi An to the DACC venues?
About 30 km to either museum — they are barely a kilometre apart. Allow 40 to 55 minutes, and closer to an hour if you are arriving into the evening peak. From Đà Nẵng airport it is 3 to 5 km and 10 to 15 minutes. From the Marble Mountains, about 12 km and 20 to 25 minutes.
What time should you leave Hoi An for the 30 October opening?
Leave by 15:30 for a 17:00 start. The last stretch of that drive lands you on the Hàn riverfront at exactly the hour Đà Nẵng's own traffic is going home across Cầu Rồng and Cầu Trần Thị Lý, and an opening-evening crowd on Bạch Đằng narrows what is left. From a beach hotel on Võ Nguyên Giáp, leave by 16:20.
Can you walk between the two DACC venues?
Yes, and it is the better plan. The two museums sit roughly 1.2 km apart along the west bank of the Hàn, a 15 to 20 minute walk on flat pavement with the river beside you the whole way. Have the car wait at one end rather than move between them — repositioning on Bạch Đằng during an event evening costs more time than the walk.
Is DACC a good plan if it rains?
It is one of the best in the city right now. Late October and November are the wet peak here, and both venues are almost entirely under roof. The exception is the opening ceremony and anything else staged in the Bảo tàng Đà Nẵng courtyard, which is open sky — bring a light shell for that hour and the galleries take care of the rest.
What else is on in Da Nang and Hoi An after DACC closes?
The late-year run continues: Tuần Văn hóa - Đại đoàn kết dân tộc from 18 to 24 November at venues including Hội An and Mỹ Sơn, Hội An's heritage fortnight from 23 November to 7 December around Ngày Di sản Văn hóa Việt Nam and the 4 December anniversary of the 1999 UNESCO inscription, the first Lễ hội Đèn lồng quốc tế on 3 to 6 December, and the Đà Nẵng new-year programme running from December into January.
