Da Nang Christmas Market 2026: The First December Weekend at Ariyana, and the Night It Collides With Hoi An
Da Nang Christmas Market returns to the Ariyana Convention Centre on Võ Nguyên Giáp for its fourth season, with more than 80 stalls and free admission. The press has it on 4 to 6 December; the venue's own listing says 3 to 6 December, 09:00 to 22:00. It is also the exact weekend Hội An stages its first Lễ hội Đèn lồng quốc tế, 25 km south. Here is how the two fit in one weekend, and why this is one of the easiest December evenings in the region to reach by car.

There is no snow within three thousand kilometres of Võ Nguyên Giáp, and the first weekend of December in Đà Nẵng will most likely be twenty-six degrees and damp. None of which has stopped a European-style Christmas market from becoming one of the busiest three days in the city's year-end calendar.
We drive it every December. What follows is the version you cannot get from a poster.
When is the Da Nang Christmas Market 2026, and why are there two sets of dates?
Da Nang Christmas Market returns to the Ariyana Convention Centre for its fourth season, and the dates depend on who you ask.
- The venue's own 2026 listing gives 3 to 6 December, Thursday to Sunday, 09:00 to 22:00 daily.
- Vietnamese press coverage of Đà Nẵng's year-end programme gives 4 to 6 December — Friday, Saturday, Sunday — with more than 80 stalls of local products, handmade gifts, decorations and Asian and European food.
Both are probably right. The pattern at events of this kind is a softer Thursday open before the weekend proper, and the press lists the weekend because that is what the weekend is. The 2025 edition ran 5, 6 and 7 December, three days, with about 60 curated booths.
From the seat, the practical reading is this: plan for Friday 4, Saturday 5 or Sunday 6 December. If a Thursday afternoon is the only slot your trip has, it is worth confirming with the organiser — DaNang 365 — rather than driving twenty-five kilometres on a listing.
Admission is free. There is no gate price to budget for, which also means there is no ticket to anchor your timing to. That cuts both ways.
Where exactly is it, and how far from Hội An?
The Ariyana Convention Centre stands at 107 Võ Nguyên Giáp, in the Ngũ Hành Sơn area, inside the Ariyana Đà Nẵng tourism complex that also holds the Furama Resort. It is a beachfront venue, not a downtown one — and that single fact reorders the evening.
Drive times, door to door:
- Hội An Old Town: 22 to 25 km, 30 to 40 minutes on the coast road.
- Đà Nẵng International Airport: 7 to 8 km, 15 to 20 minutes.
- Mỹ Khê and the northern Võ Nguyên Giáp hotels: 10 to 15 minutes.
- Bạch Đằng riverfront: about 15 minutes.
- Marble Mountains: five minutes. Not a typo.
That last one is the most useful line in this article, and we will come back to it.
What time should you actually arrive?
16:30, or a little after.
The doors open at 09:00, and at 09:00 you will be looking at eighty stalls under a flat grey sky with their lights off. A Christmas market is an illumination before it is a shopping floor. In early December, the light goes at about 17:30 on this coast.
So: arrive 16:30 to 17:00, walk the stalls while you can still see what you are buying, be standing in the food area when the lights come up, eat, and go. The 22:00 close is not a target — the last hour at a free-entry market is the thinnest hour of the three days.
Saturday 5 December is the heavy day. The venue's own post about the 2025 edition claims more than 60,000 visitors across the weekend, against an organiser projection beforehand of up to 30,000. Take the exact figure loosely; take the direction of it seriously. If your party includes small children or anyone who does not love a crowd, Friday afternoon is the better trade.
Where does the car wait?
Here is the part that makes this one of the kindest December evenings in the region to drive to.
Most of what Đà Nẵng and Hội An stage in December happens somewhere a car cannot easily stand: a pedestrianised Old Town, a riverfront walking street, a square with one approach road. Ariyana is the opposite. The complex occupies a 140,000 sqm site, of which roughly 81,300 sqm is listed as garden and parking. There is genuine room on the property.
Two working notes anyway:
- The exit is the pinch, not the arrival. Võ Nguyên Giáp is a fast two-way beach road that behaves badly when a few thousand people leave one gate at once. Going in at 16:30, your driver drops you at the entrance and parks. Coming out at 20:30, agree a named collection point before you walk away from the car — not "by the gate".
- Decide the direction home before you get out. Southbound to Hội An and northbound into the city leave the complex by different turns. Saying it out loud at 16:30 costs nothing; working it out at 20:45 in a queue costs twenty minutes.
What is actually inside?
The format is a European winter village translated to a tropical beach: a large tree, light installations, handicraft and gift stalls, and an outdoor food area running Asian and European plates side by side. More than 80 stalls in 2026, against about 60 in 2025 — the growth is real.
What we will not do is print you a programme. Carol singers, acoustic sets and children's craft workshops all appear in descriptions of this market's format, but the 2026 line-up and performance times had not been published when this was written. Ask at the entrance on the day. Anything else is a guess dressed as a plan.
Bring cash as well as a card. The food stalls take cards unevenly and the smallest craft sellers often not at all.
What else is on that same weekend?
This is the real planning problem, and almost nobody flags it.
Hội An's first Lễ hội Đèn lồng quốc tế runs 3 to 6 December 2026 — the identical weekend — under the theme Hội An - Sắc màu di sản, on the Hoài river square and in the An Hội sculpture garden. Hội An's Ngày Di sản văn hóa Việt Nam heritage programme also runs through 5 December.
Two lantern-and-light events, 25 km apart, both at their best after dark, on the same three nights. You cannot have both on one evening. You can easily have both in one weekend:
- One evening in the Old Town for the lantern festival — and the installations there are intended to stand until Tết Nguyên tiêu in February 2027, so that night is less scarce than it looks.
- One late afternoon into evening at Ariyana for the market, which exists for three days only.
If the weekend is tight, the market is the one with the deadline.
Can you stack it with anything in daylight?
Yes, and this is where the five-minute number earns its keep. The Marble Mountains — Ngũ Hành Sơn — sit essentially next door. A clean December afternoon: leave Hội An at 13:30, climb Thủy Sơn and see the caves while the light is good, back in the car at 16:15, at the market gate by 16:30, home by 21:00. One car, one driver, no backtracking, and the only walking you do twice is the market itself.
The other natural pairing is an airport day. At 7 to 8 km from the terminal, this is one of the few evening events in the region that genuinely works on a departure or arrival day — an afternoon flight in, the market at dusk, Hội An by ten.
And the weather?
Early December is the tail of the Quảng Nam and Đà Nẵng rain season, not the end of it. Expect warm, humid air and a real chance of rain on any given afternoon.
Which is, quietly, the argument for this particular event. A market with a convention centre behind it and covered space on site handles a shower that an open riverfront square cannot. Pack a light rain layer, wear shoes you do not mind getting wet, and do not move the day for a forecast.
If you want that first December weekend driven — the Marble Mountains in the afternoon light, the market at dusk, the Old Town lanterns the following night — tell us the dates at hoiandriver.com/quote. A real driver prices the trip in USD, a 10% non-refundable deposit books it and holds your driver and your dates, and the balance is paid at the end of the trip.
good questions
- When is the Da Nang Christmas Market 2026?
- The first weekend of December, at the Ariyana Convention Centre. Two date ranges are in circulation: the venue's own 2026 listing gives 3 to 6 December, Thursday to Sunday, 09:00 to 22:00 daily, while Vietnamese press coverage of Đà Nẵng's year-end programme gives 4 to 6 December, Friday to Sunday. The likeliest explanation is a quieter Thursday opening ahead of the full weekend. Treat Friday 4, Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December as certain and Thursday 3 December as worth a phone call.
- Where is the Da Nang Christmas Market held?
- At the Ariyana Convention Centre, 107 Võ Nguyên Giáp, in the Ngũ Hành Sơn area of Đà Nẵng, inside the Ariyana Đà Nẵng tourism complex alongside the Furama Resort. It is a beach-road venue rather than a city-centre one, which matters more for your evening than the address does.
- How much does it cost to get in?
- The venue's listing states that admission is free for everyone. You pay for what you eat, drink and carry out — the market itself has no gate price. Budget in cash as well as card; the smaller craft stalls at Vietnamese market events are not reliably set up for cards.
- How far is the Christmas Market from Hoi An?
- About 22 to 25 km up the coast road, and 30 to 40 minutes in normal conditions. From Đà Nẵng International Airport it is roughly 7 to 8 km and 15 to 20 minutes. From a hotel on the Mỹ Khê end of Võ Nguyên Giáp, 10 to 15 minutes. From the Bạch Đằng riverfront, about 15 minutes. From the Marble Mountains, five.
- What time of day is best?
- Go at 16:30 or later. The doors are listed from 09:00, but a Christmas market is a lighting installation as much as a shopping floor, and in early December the light goes at about 17:30. Arrive in the late afternoon, walk the stalls in daylight, eat as the lights come up, and leave well before the 22:00 close. Saturday 5 December is the busiest of the three days by a wide margin.
- How big is it, and what is actually there?
- Vietnamese coverage of the 2026 edition puts it at more than 80 stalls — local products, handmade gifts, decorations, and Asian and European food — up from about 60 curated booths in 2025. The format is a European-style winter village: a large tree, light installations, craft stalls and an outdoor food area, with evening music. The specific 2026 line-up had not been published when this was written, so treat performance times as unconfirmed.
- Does it clash with the Hoi An lantern festival?
- Directly. Hội An's first Lễ hội Đèn lồng quốc tế runs 3 to 6 December 2026 under the theme Hội An - Sắc màu di sản, the same weekend. They are 25 km apart, so you can do both — but not both on the same evening, because each wants the hours after dark. Split them: one night in the Old Town, one afternoon-into-evening at Ariyana.
- Is parking a problem?
- Less than almost anywhere else you will go in December. The complex sits on a 140,000 sqm site of which roughly 81,300 sqm is listed as garden and parking, so unlike a riverfront or Old Town event there is real room on site. The pinch is the exit after dark on Võ Nguyên Giáp, not the arrival.
